Driving can be a dangerous habit if you are not careful.  When most of us are young teenagers we talk about the day we will be granted our licences. Our parents would cringe at the thought of their beloved sons and daughters behind the wheel of a motor vehicle. Everyone would kid around saying they would never be on the same road as their young teen. There are many joys and dangers of driving a car. In Texas, it is the state law that you must wear your seat belt when in a vehicle, “click it or ticket.”

 Seat-belts are known to save lives in the event of a accident. Studies have shown that 70% of the people involved in an accident were more likely to live since they were wearing a seat-belt. Whenever you get inside a vehicle whether you are driving or riding as a passenger, ALWAYS put your seat-belt on. If you are pulled over by a highway patrol officer for not putting your seat-belt on could cost you a hefty fine. The over played excuses as, ” I forgot,” or ” I didn’t think I had to wear one,” won’t help you. Most officers will not even give you a warning anymore. You must wear your seat-belt, it will save your life and the lives of your passengers. Make sure your passengers are restrained as well. You wouldn’t want to be in a head on collision and be the only survivor because you were the only one wearing your seat-belt.

Remember in school when you learned about the laws of motion? When you are in a car lets say driving at 60 MPH, your body is also traveling at 60 MPH.  A car comes out of no where and you run into this car. Your car has slowed down considerably, but your body is still traveling at the same 60 MPH at least for a few seconds. This means that if you are not held in by your seat-belt you could fly through your windshield at 60 MPH, or even hit your steering wheel or dash board at such a high speed. This will seriously hurt you, and in worse case kill you. Be sure you arewearing your seatbelt when in a moving vehicle. Don’t put your life, or the life of a loved one, on the line for anyone.
