Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

When shopping for Texas Auto Insurance there are a few things you should have handy when looking. The following list of items are needed to give to the lowest insurance rate for the right company. Your best interest is our best interest. Some of the below listed requirements you may not want to give out over the Internet or to someone who may call and sell you insurance over the phone. That is fine. Please keep in mind that we ONLY ask these questions from you to insure you that you are getting the lowest insurance rates we offer.

     1. Please have the year, make, and model of the vehicle you are wanting a quote on.  This important in the event you have an accident YOUR car is covered.

     2. The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is also needing when you decide to PURCHASE insurance. It is NOT needed just to get a quote, but when you do find the right Texas Insurance Company you are going to need this number.

     3.  There are certain discounts you can recieve for driving your vehicle back and forth or work or school. So if your primary use for your car is commuting please make you sure let your agent know, to insure you get the proper discounts if it applies to your situation.

     4.  You will also need to know if you want Full or Liablility Coverage on your car. You may request a quote for both, if you would like.

     5. Most companies check your driving background and history when you apply for insurance. To make sure you are who you say you are most agents will ask for either your drivers liscense or your social security number, or both.  Please understand that if you do NOT provide this information when you are shopping and getting quotes, your quote will not be accurate. The rates your agent gives you may be higher or lower depending on your driving record.

     6. Agents will also need to know if there will be any other drivers on the policy with you. You will also need their DL or SSN numbers. Some agents will ask if you have had any tickets or at fault accidents in prior years, some go back 5 years and others only 3 years.

     7. You could possibly be eligible for discounts if you have had prior insurance, and your prior insurance has been in effect for a certain amount of time. The longer you have insurance the lower your premium will be.

This all may seem like a lot of information, but it really only takes about five minutes to get the needed information over the phone.  The agent might even be able to give you a quote right then, or they may get your telephone number and call you back as soon as they have your quote ready. Your professional Texas Auto Insurance Agent can also any questions you may have about your policy. He/She should also go over your policy with you to make sure you understand everything completely.
