Things not to do while driving!

Some people don’t understand the risks they take when driving a vehicle. Many people have heard horror stories of people putting on make up while driving, or feed their baby, or even talking on the phone and causing a really bad accident. Below are a few things that should NOT be done while you are driving a vehicle or even stopped in traffic. Some of these things have caused people to have accidents, have their driver’s license suspended, or even spent time in jail. Take caution when you read these.

  1. If you must talk on the phone while driving, make sure you use a hands-free device. Many states are even out lawing these because it seems to distract the driver. Many places have already outlawed the use of cell phones hand held or hands free while driving in a school zone.
  2. In some areas drivers are prohibited to eat or drink while they are behind the wheel.  Where ever you drive, make sure you are aware of the driving restrictions for that area.
  3. If you are a smoker and throw your cigarette butts out the window you can very well distract a driver or motorcycle driver behind you and cause an accident.
  4. In one state a man had his license suspended for 6 months for shaving while he was driving and caused an accident because he merely wasn’t paying attention to the road ahead of him.
  5. People also shouldn’t try to read while driving. Reading takes alot of concentration, and too much might take your mind away from paying close attention to driving and the road conditions ahead of you.
  6. In closing, some places are starting to prohibit dogs riding in the front seats of vehicles. People are saying they are a distraction, and if an accident happened, some dogs are so protective of their owners, rescue workers may not be able to assist an injured person. People are asking dog owners to secure their beloved pets with a harness in the back seat, or in a crate in the rear of the vehicle.
